This is great way to have SOMA FM at your fingertips all the time. the 1.0.1 verion intrduced a bug though. When you have it playing in the background, then click back on the soma player, it stops playing for about 2 seconds, then starts playing again. It will do thia every time you make another window active. Sometimes the GUI disappears and you have to close the app and start it over to get it back. Im sure they will fix all this in an update. I love SOMA FM!

A must have for SOMA FM fans, and so is the iOS version.

This version has a small bug that causes the music to stop for about 2-3 seconds when you swich between the app and other apps. Otherwise, this is exactly the kind of light app we need to get fast and easy access to SOMA FM stations. App volume slider gives even greater fine-tuned control over volume. That way you can get sound levels between the clicks on the Mac OS. Purchase links for tracks dont work seem to work. I get iTunes store errors.

This small app lauches fast and is a great way to listen to all the great stations on SomaFM!

I love somaFM and listen to it all the time. This really needs Airtunes support. Im disappointed that it does not have airplay support. Please add this function.

To make this near-perfect: display a reading of the time remaining/time elapsed somewhere along the interface (its completing and informative to know where you are in the song); correct the slight halt of music that occurs when interacting with the app (a second or two of interruption can be a disconnect to the immersion in the atmospheric music, disturbing the ambiance, and a short, abrupt, incoherent stop in a good, continuous song feels like a lifetime); keep the Favorite Songs and Favorite Stations selections after updates (it wouldnt be much of a bookmarking ability if temporary only). A bit more information about the stream on the display would be an amenity. The standalone volume slider is so useful. The interface is light and quick, neither clunky nor cheap, and the feel of the design is inspired by the same aura the songs emanate. The color scheme is simple and subtle, sophisticated. The music player is not at all resource intensive, as far as CPU, RAM and bandwith are concerned. From the dock, you can bring up the song currently playing, pause and commit to your next or previous favorite station. The newsfeed within the app, sort of like RSS, is a nicety. More importantly, the sound is of quality. SUPPORT SOMA IF YOURE A HUMAN WHO STILL ADHERES AND INDULGES IN THE SENSES, STILL YIELDS TO THE BRILLIANT ART OF FELLOW HUMANS AND FOLLOWS THE LONG WAY WEVE COME. WEVE GOT A LONG WAY TO GO, AND SOMAFM IS A LEADER, A GUIDE IN ITS OWN RIGHT. SOMA DOES IT FOR THE ART.

No much to say but a simply wonderful way to enjoy SomaFM. A lot of hard work and love goes into SomaFM so be sure to buy a mug or a t-shirt to support them.

SomaFM has my favorite music programming, Im so glad they are still around, and happy to buy this app. Its not the greatest app in the world, but it sounds great and its SomaFM, so I absolutely will buy it and support them, use it with pride, and encourage others too as well. Would be great if it ran from the menubar like Radium, and you could see what bitrate it was running at.

If you want "Internet radio" and any of the stations from SomaFM are in the categories you want, this app is for you.

Soma is good, but BootLiquor and Roy are the best.

Just what I need - a basic app to play SomaFM w/o needing to fire up iTunes. Growl support for track changes is all that I need for it to be perfect.

Very fast to load and launch, better features than playing the PLS file through iTunes. Shows the track playing plus upcoming tracks; lets you search for artist and track to buy the song. Does not work with Airplay, so youre limited to your output on the Mac.

Was not expecting this. Nice, polished player for SomaFM on OSX, out of the blue. Shopping cart links are great, most of the music I buy is due to having heard it on Soma first. The "Favorite Song" feature is my favorite feature. Needs a "Favorite Feature" feature so I can favorite that feature. :)

Ive listened to SomaFM for the past few years and it honestly just keeps getting better. This app has a clean and engaging UI that includes the abilty to favorite both stations and songs so you can go back and purchase the music you want to add to your personal library later. The new shopping cart functionality is a huge plus given that much of what Soma plays can be a bit obscure and hard to find. I should also note that SomaFM is fully listener supported, which means no annoying commercial breaks if youre streaming in your office or during a party at home. That brings me to the one feature I think this app is lacking: a donation button that will allow listeners to easily contribute so we can keep the music coming!

First off, SomaFm streams "everywhere" I want it to stream. I dont think I should or need to describe that because someone might go and break it (or fix it depending on how you look at it), but other mac apps I have used dont stream properly in this particular way… not to be too vague but great job team SomaFm. This app circumvents certain types of issues I have had with streaming via web browsers. Ive been listening to somafm for nearly as long as Ive been using the internet, and Ive heard nothing but excellent music on somafm. After all these years its only gotten better. I did not realize you guys had any mac or iOS apps, but this encourages me to go and buy the iOS version.

Great having all the Soma fm streams gathered together on my Mac desktop. Suggestions for future update: Display track length, and possibly a small "progress" bar or fractional indicator (e.g. 1:55/4:29) to show how far along a playing track is. Ability to "minimize" the app window to just the now playing" track a la iTunes MiniPlayer. Somewhere (menu?) indicate current stream bit rate

i have been listening to groove salad on intunes since the days of my g4 mac. this app is something i never thought i needed. much easier to get the music up and on than navigating the ever changing itunes radio kit. supports airplay, and i love the star feature for tagging songs we like, that is so helpful.

Great app by a great station. They have helped me discover a large number of excellent artists. Be sure to visit thier website and support them. I would have gladly paid for this app.
